Our vice president of outreach and human resources, Catherina Webster, is an Illinois mother of five children. As a parent helping her kids she has seen a wide variety of homework, Internet research, and video games.
Cat is not only our foundation’s human resources contact, bringing in talented reporters and bloggers to cover important issues in our schools in an accurate and comprehensive manner; she also coordinates our outreach in Chicago and in the suburbs.
Prior to joining Voxitatis in November 2008, she worked as a test scoring supervisor at Measurement Inc. in Aurora, Ill., where she developed training materials, facilitated committees comprised of educators from a wide variety of states, and ensured accuracy of scores given to students on statewide standardized tests.
Our executive editor and foundation president, Paul Katula, works for the Maryland State Department of Education, where he supervises the scoring of and assists in the development of statewide standardized tests in math and science, many of which are used to assess the state’s and schools’ compliance with federal regulations in the No Child Left Behind Act.
He formerly worked as a beat reporter and spot news photographer for a daily newspaper in a rural community north of Dayton, Ohio; as a systems analyst and database administrator for PNC and PHH mortgage companies; as an information specialist in the Fellows Program at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in Chicago; and as the manager of technical support and sales support at Wolfram Research Inc. in Champaign, Ill.
Our vice president of social media and online marketing, Alicia Mills, joined us in November 2010 as an intern responsible for the acquisition of information relevant to the fine arts programs offered to students at Illinois schools.
She lives in Baltimore, Md., and is a student at the University of Baltimore, where she is majoring in jurisprudence.
As a student, she has first-hand knowledge of how young people use the Web to play, learn, socialize, and take an active role in many aspects of their lives and their communities.
In addition to her role as a researcher of information pertaining to Illinois schools, Alicia also sets up and monitors outreach and marketing campaigns on Facebook and other Web sites where students and their parents are likely to be found.
And Their Role On This Web Site
The people who plan, lead, and support our operations
are the foundation of everything we do. We endeavor
to provide them with an environment where they are valued,
challenged, and supported, and where they can grow.
