Esteemed readers: Just as corporate citizens should be judged more by expenditures than by revenues, schools ought to be judged more by graduates (output) than by enrollees (input). This year, what our schools send out into the world is the undeniable voice of our citizen-students. Rising in steady swells from many cities, students have collaborated in active support of their education but against the standardized tests, narrowing of curricula the tests cause, and mass school closings.
